Common Gynecologic Symptoms

Changes in menstrual bleeding, pelvic discomfort, vaginal symptoms, and urinary concerns can have many causes. A careful history and examination help determine whether additional testing is needed.

Pelvic Pain & Pressure

Evaluation of persistent or recurring pelvic pain, cramps, discomfort with intercourse, or a sensation of pelvic pressure.

Irregular or Heavy Bleeding

Assessment of heavy periods, bleeding between periods, bleeding after intercourse, or any bleeding after menopause.

Vaginal & Urinary Symptoms

Care for concerns such as irritation, unusual discharge, vaginal dryness, urinary urgency, and recurrent urinary symptoms.

Gynecologic Conditions We Evaluate

Depending on your symptoms and medical history, an evaluation may address uterine fibroids, endometriosis, adenomyosis, ovarian cysts, pelvic organ prolapse, menstrual disorders, or changes involving the cervix and endometrium. Screening and diagnostic testing are recommended according to individual needs.

Preventive Gynecology

Well-woman visits may include cervical cancer screening when indicated, contraception and reproductive health counseling, STI screening, breast health discussions, and age-appropriate preventive care.

Preparing for Your Visit

It can help to note when symptoms began, their frequency, the dates and heaviness of menstrual bleeding, any associated pain, and medications you take. Bring relevant prior test results if available.

When to Seek Medical Attention

Contact a clinician about persistent pelvic pain, unusual discharge, or changes in your bleeding pattern. Bleeding after menopause should always be evaluated. Seek urgent medical care for severe or sudden pelvic pain, fainting, or heavy bleeding accompanied by weakness or dizziness.
